To all first violinists,
As you may have heard during orchestra today, Ms. Mauro has pointed out several bowing changes that she would like to add to our part. If you have got all of them, good for you and you don't have to read this. If you are uncertain, here's the changes that you may have missed:
1) From measure 31 to the end of the first page, any rhythm that has a dotted eighth-note followed by a sixteenth-note in a single beat is hooked. Both notes in the beat are played using the same bow but with a separation in between.
2) In measures 41 and 42, every 4 notes is slurred. That means in measure 41, every repetition of 4 sixteenth-notes (B, F#, G, B) is one bow. In measure 42, there are 8 eighth-notes that will be divided into 4 and 4, each with down bow and up bow respectively.
3) The first beat of measure 73 is a D#. Our music has a natural next to the D and it is incorrect according to the score. Just cross out the natural sign and play D#.
As a side note, watch all the accidentals that occur in the music as there are plenty of them! Remember that if one note has an accidental next to it and the same note appears in the same measure, the accidentally still applies to the proceeding note. Don't forget about bowings as well, they are a real pain.
There may be more bowing changes and either Ms. Mauro, Raymond or I will get them out to you as soon as possible.
